Canterbury Collections May 2014

Wow.... Canterbury Collections came and went so quickly, it was an amazing experience and I enjoyed meeting all the lovely models and having a reason to sew my butt off. I'm even thinking about doing it all again in October!!!!

I do need a wee rest the last few weeks prior to the show were a bit mad, my industrial sewing machine broke so had to sew my treasures on my domestic machine at the kitchen table while also having all the children home for school holidays. Very busy times, but it all got done and seemed to be a wonderful success......so I'm pretty proud of myself!

Model:- C/O Denyse Saunders
Photography:- ForeverYoungPhotography
MUA:- Hair Art & Beauty
Wardrobe:- Forge Fashion

~Everything bar the white shirt on the first male (which I would have also made if I hadn't run out of time) is authentic Forge Fashion made right here in my wee studio or at my kitchen table.......and I do mean that literally, I was sewing right up till it was time to dress the models!~

Any size, any occasion.....

I started a jewellery course in 2011 (which I was super excited about), unfortunately due to the shakey shakey earth my plans for last year ended up on their ass. Despite this how ever I am continuing to explore the Jewellery side line - DIY styles.

The wonderful thing about accessories/jewellery is anyone can wear it, generally no fitting is required and it's acceptable for nearly any occasion. So it makes sense to provide a few alternatives along side the corsetry/costumes don't you think :)

The corset bone collection is coming along nicely I have a lovely Canadian model on board for a photoshoot, so as soon as I can pin her down I should have some spanky new images of these.....may even finish a couple more by the time we get together. Here's the collection so far:-

Other new items include this lovely copper piece:-

And a new collection of earrings:-

Hearts for Christchurch....

Last weekend we took a family trip to the Christchurch Museum and botanical gardens......mostly with the intention of seeing the W.O.W costumes, which we did (no photography unfortunately or I would have taken a hundred pictures). Anyway while we were there we came across the 'Hearts for Christchurch' exhibition, this lovely idea was started by Napier resident Evie Harris which once spread through the crafting community began an influx of handmade hearts from all over the world.....

We strolled through the room admiring all the hand stitching and effort made by so many different people and  it was hard not to feel a little uplifted in the process......

They came in many colours and sizes spreading across the walls in various arrangements, some with written messages, but each individually handmade with love..... over 4,000 in total!!
