Show Update and Corsets on the go...

The Melodie M show has been moved into the new year....so we are now looking at late February 2014. Which works out great, giving me a wee bit more time to complete everything and also some relaxed person time with my family over the Christmas holidays :)

This is a piece I've had completed for quiet a while, so to spice it up for the show I've made a matching Corseted Bralette  and Skirt which I really love.....high wasted shorts to finish I think.

This is a another version of the previous Steampunk Style with matching Skirt and Bolero. I've tried it on a model and think it just needs a modesty placket for the front...otherwise it's good to go :)

***Now on a personal note.....I have recently had a very unpleasant experience - yes it has finally happened, my images are being used to falsely promote and sell imitations of my original corsets and accessories. This just down right sux, but it does make me realize that if somebody else thinks there is money to be made from my designs when I'm currently not making any myself - things need to change. So time to work harder and get business savvy, I was already planning a bit of professional overhaul but this just ups the desired level!!**

PS My garden is cranking - it's the biggest I've ever tended and I'm really finding alot of joy in all aspects of learning to keep it. And yay for herbs and goodies right out of the garden :D

Local fun at Bottle Lake Forest.....

I recently had the pleasure of working with a few local folk on a location shoot...... it was a bit of a hoohar out and about in the forest - haha, super awesome fun (sorry Rachel, I know you were freezing and the stray people and dogs were rampant)!!! Lots of giggles and smiling all round, really helps to have some 'happy nutters' with a professional attitude on the crew that's for sure (totally referring to myself here, incase anyone were to get offended by that statement - lol) :)

The Joy of Swing Hooks.....

I started a couple of steamy themed underbust corsets with the intent of trying my swing hook closures.....and so far it's going super well. Boy do I love swing hooks, they're so much more fun to put in then normal busks!
Isn't the map fabric lovely? I just couldn't resist it! Since I have a lovely stash of fabrics I need to be using more of,  I decided to match it with white pvc instead of  leather - which would normally be my natural selection (I will be mixing this fabric with leather for another project so I think it's a good deviation).

The other one has a lovely montage newprint look which I thought I might as well do with black vinyl , keeping with the theme. I'm also doing single layer coutil corsets, which means I'll be relying on internal and external bone channels to achieve the effect so I want something with contrast anyway.
And here's a couple showing the swing hooks just as they went in.....

FUTURE BLOG POSTS.......more plans of corset making and corsets to come!

Steampunk Wedding Concept.....

I've been playing around with more line drawings, this time as a necessary aid in providing my customer with options for her steampunk wedding ensemble.

This is the initial style Niki picked from my corset collection:-
I think having straps definitely gives a lovely curvy 'bride to be' a little extra reassurance (so the ideal style in this instance).

Starting with the basic style.....
And then the same concept with a few additions......

Now we're getting more of a waistcoat look, which is perfect for that steampunk finish we're after.
And with that done my bride was easily sold on 'Vest B' - yay I will have wonderful challenge ahead (which is much more fun then the typical plain corset which is so often requested).

*I definitely enjoy doing these, they make a great style reference plus they give me a way to work on design concepts via my PC (since I spend so much time on it anyway), I've already created a nice little collection which I imagine  I will keep adding to  :)

Oxblood Leather Accessories

So I've been having pretty hectic times of late, but I'm still trying to fit in a little play time here and there. Once of my latest  play projects is reproducing my Steam Punk Corset Set as seen here on the lovely Lara......

Steampunk Corset Set By Forge Fashion

This time I want to change the tone slightly by using  a beautiful Oxblood coloured leather for the trim and accessories. I have made the belt and 'Octo' collar already, but  I  haven't decide yet what fabric I'll use to compliment this colour scheme. Here is the collar and belt......

Ive tried a few fabrics and so far the winning combo seems to be this plaid:-

Mmmm to be pondered further, more pics to come.
